Thaddeus Jones Sr. Obituary

SPRING HOPE.......Thaddeus Edward (Mr. Ed) Jones, Sr., 84, of Spring Hope, NC passed away at home Tuesday, February 27, 2018 with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side. He was born in Raleigh, NC where he was raised with his brothers and sisters. After graduating from Hugh Morson High School, he moved to Washington, DC and worked for the Atomic Energy Commission. While living in Washington he began taking ballet lesson and later became a member of the National Ballet Company, dancing for many famous people including President Eisenhower. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served two years, with most of that time in Hawaii. After completing his service in the army, he returned home to Raleigh to manage his father's businesses, Victory Cab Company and Morgan Street Parking Lot. He also attended Kings Business College where he received his associates degree in Accounting. He met his future wife Barbara at his father's parking lot. They married in 1966 and started a family. For the last fourteen years of his life he owned and operated Ed's Bargain Shop in downtown Spring Hope. He had many customers who all called him "Mr. Ed". He loved his customers, often giving them nicknames, because he couldn't remember their name or because they collected a certain item. In the last few years he had become unable to run the store alone so his daughter Cindy came back to help him after raising her own family and took care of the store as well as taking care of him. He will be sorely missed by his family as well as his many customers. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Spring Hope Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Boone will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh NC. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Jones; Daughter Cindy Wynne (Reggie); Sons Thad (Donna) and Matt (Joe). He is survived by ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Jerry of Greensboro and Tommy from Clayton; Sisters Martha Muiccio of Apex and Fay Davis of Morrisville, plus many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Branson Jones Sr. and Rebecca Jones, brother Walter Jones, Jr., sister, Irma Jean (Boots) Henebury and daughter, Dawn.
