Navada "Toddie" Greene Strickland

Rocky Mount.....Navada "Toddie" Greene Strickland, 96, died peacefully in her Rocky Mount home on September 21, 2018. Funeral services will be Wednesday September, 26, at 3 p.m. at Spring Hope Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kevin Moore officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Spring Hope Memorial Gardens. Toddie is survived by her children: Craig Strickland and wife Hilda of Winterville NC, Maggi Harding and husband Richard of Red Oak, and Bill Strickland and wife Sandra of Kingsland, GA, two grandchildren: Anita Strickland and Robert (Colleen) Strickland, her great grandchildren: Austin Brown and MacKenzie Kuc, and sisters: Maybelle Slumpff and Vera (Adolphus) Batchelor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Carl Craig Strickland in 2015. Toddie was born on March 8, 1922 in Nash County to Edmond and Tassie Greene and was one of 8 children. She was a graduate of Spring Hope High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl, and they spent 72 years together loving each other and their three children. Carl's Army Career gave them the opportunity to live abroad in France, Japan, and Germany as well as the US. Toddie was a student of the world and always made a point of immersing herself in the many different cultures she lived in by making friends with the community. Toddie was a gracious, warm and loving person. She treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. Toddie was devoted to the Lord and served the church by working with the Sunbeams, Girl's Auxiliary, and as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed working with children and did so with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Spring Hope, P.O.
