Michael Horton Obituary

MIDDLESEX – It is with deep and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Shannon Horton, a man whose presence filled every room with laughter, warmth, and unforgettable memories.  He passed away on April 28, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly and a community that will forever feel the loss of his larger-than-life spirit.

Michael was the kind of man who truly lived life.  He found joy in the simple, meaningful things – spending early mornings hunting, peaceful afternoons fishing, and countless hours working on cars, doing what he loved with his hands and sharing that passion with those around him.  Whether he was under the hood of a car, out in the woods, or casting a line in the water, he was happiest when doing what brought him peace and purpose.

Above all else, he loved his family fiercely.  His family was the center of his world, and he took pride in the people he loved.  He was a father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend whose love ran deep – even when words weren’t always enough to express it.  He showed his love through his presence, his hard work, his laughter, and the way he always made sure those around him knew they mattered.

What many will remember most about Michael was his incredible personality.  He had a gift for making people laugh – a quick wit, a contagious smile, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest day.  He never met a stranger, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him walked away with a story, a laugh, or a memory they would cherish forever.

Though our hearts are broken by his loss, we find comfort in knowing his legacy lives on – in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the countless lives he touched.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Michael is the son of Dida Marie Denton and the late Billy Zester Horton.  Along with his mother Michael is survived by his daughters, Taylor Creech and husband Chris, Mikayla Edwards, and Cadyson Outlaw and husband Brett; his sons, Levi Horton and Hunter Horton; his grandchildren, Blade Edwards, Camden Creech, Bentley Edwards, Abbie Creech, and Easton Edwards; his brother, Billy Wayne Horton and wife Pam; and nephews Junior Horton, Jonah Horton, and Jonathan Horton.
