Martha (Green) Edwards

Martha Green Edwards, 69, of Spring Hope, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022. Born May 23, 1953 in New Bern, she was the daughter of the late H.J. "Boe" Green and Wilma Ferrell Green. The family then moved to Cary, where Martha grew up and graduated from Cary High School. She attended Atlantic Christian College and Gardner Webb University. Martha spent her career working for the State of North Carolina, retiring as U.I. Deputy Director of the Employment Security Commission. Upon retirement, she was awarded the governor's highest honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, by Governor Michael Easley.

Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 49 years, Michael; a daughter, Emily Mooney (Marc); a son, Jonathan Edwards (Brittaney); her grandchildren and lights of her life, Eva, Ellis, Bella, Oliver, and Charlie; sisters, Susan Patterson and Jane Green; many special in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will hold a visitation Friday, October 28, from 2:00 pm-3:30 pm at the Spring Hope Funeral Home located at 7881 Webbs Mill Rd., Spring Hope, NC. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 pm at the Edwards Family Cemetery located at 3131 Green Rd., Spring Hope, NC.
