Jean Womble Obituary

                                                          JEAN ARDEN HEFLIN WOMBLE

                                                    December 15, 1934 – December 3, 2020

SPRING HOPE……………..Jean Womble, age 85, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born in Trenton, New Jersey but made her way down south as fast as she could.  She married her high school sweetheart and followed him to California before returning to Spring Hope.  She worked for thirty years at Nash County Department of Social Services where she truly enjoyed the opportunity to serve others. As a faithful member of First Baptist Church, she served in many positions including deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, and her most cherished role as the children’s choir director.  After retirement she faithfully volunteered at Spring Hope Elementary and Faith Christian Ministries, served Meals on Wheels, and helped lead weekly services at Greentree Apartments.  She loved going on bus trips, traveling with her dear friends Earl and Sarah Purkerson, and excursions to the beach.  “Yaya” as she was lovingly known, always enjoyed cheering her grandchildren on from the sidelines.

Mrs. Womble was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lewis Heflin and Minnie Wilder Heflin.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 66 years, Joseph Charles “JC” Womble of the home: a devoted daughter, Amy Jo Parker and husband Stuart; two grandchildren; Tori P. Whitley and husband Clay, and Kendall Parker and wife Whitney; two great-grand dogs, Maverick and Cannon.  She also loved the many animals she and JC had over the years, including Clyde and Mattie.

A graveside service will be Saturday, December 5th, 1:00 pm at Oak Dale Cemetery, Spring Hope with Rev. Greg Anderson and Dr. Kevin Moore officiating.  Visitation will follow the service at graveside and other times at the home of Amy and Stuart Parker.  Everyone is asked to follow social distancing guidelines including wearing a mask.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, PO Box 177, Spring Hope, NC 27882.
