JAMES “JIMMY” CARLTON GREEN JR.

Bailey, NC … Jimmy Green, age 66, passed today, Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Rex Hospital.

Jimmy was born and raised in Spring Hope, NC and graduated from Southern Nash High School. Jimmy worked for Spartan Foods as a Hardee’s general manager in Chesnee, SC for many years. After moving back to his hometown of Spring Hope in 1991, Jimmy worked as a print shop supervisor at the Raleigh Correctional Center. Jimmy ended his career at his favorite job, working with family at Bailey Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.

Jimmy was dynamic and free spirited and loved to laugh and have fun. He also loved a competitive game of cards. Some of his children’s fondest memories were hearing Jimmy get rowdy during a great game of spades. Jimmy could always be found with a cold mountain dew in hand and a mischievous smile. Jimmy loved his parents and family deeply, was a proud dad to three sons and “papa Jimmy” to seven beautiful grandchildren.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory, his father, J.C Green of Spring hope, sons, Jake Green and wife, Jenna of New Bern; Daniel Green and wife, Ashley of Boiling Springs, S.C.; Nick Green and wife, Cynthia of Bailey; sister, Cindy Brantley and husband, Jimmy of Spring Hope and brother Todd Green and wife, Lynn of Bailey; fiancé, Rita Atkinson of Bailey; grandchildren, Audrey, Oliver, Ava, Mya, Eleanor, Millie, and Alex; special niece and nephew April Blackford and Blake Lamm of Raleigh; several other nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Karen Matthews of Spring Hope. Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Bland Green and sister, Teresa Green Lamm.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Spring Hope Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Perry officiating. The family will be receiving friends and family following the service at the funeral home. An entombment will be held at a later date in Oakdale Cemetery, Spring Hope.
