Spring Hope…Eunice Rachel Gardner Strickland, age 92, passed away, Monday, January 30, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother (also known as Grandma Monkey.) She was an experienced sewing machine operator for twenty eight years and retired from K&R Sportswear. She loved the Lord. She had a passion for sewing and would reconstruct any bought garment to fit perfectly ( even in assisted living.) She was well known for her cooking and baking. She loved flowers and animals. She would not hesitate to make new friends and she always wanted to tell them about her family. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Ernest Samuel Gardner and Katie Katherine Joyner Gardner; Husband, Charlie Bermon Srickland (Monkey); Sons, Gerald Strickland and James Strickland; fourteen other Siblings and three Sister –In – Laws.
She is survived by her Daughters, Faye S. Perry (Larry) of Spring Hope, Robin Strickland of Rocky Mount, Vickie S. Carlyle (Eugene) of Spring Hope; Sister, Elsie Sledge of Spring Hope; Brothers, Roy Gardner of Sharpsburg, Troy Gardner (Grace) of Nashville, and Larry Gardner (Sharon) of Rocky Mount; Sister In - Law; Shirley S. Forehand (West) of Wake Forest; Grandchildren, Kimberly S. Evans (Jonathan), Kevin Strickland, Jeremy Strickland, Michelle P. Stewart, Kathy P. Nall (Brian) , Matthew Carlyle, and Andrew Carlyle; Great – Grandchildren, Anna E. Rackley (Hunter), Jenna Evans, Brittany Shearin, Sydney Shearin, Landon Nall, and Everette Nall; many Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Spring Hope Church of God with a funeral following at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, with Pastor Larry Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hope Memorial Gardens.
