Hulda Strickland Wilson

Spring Hope..................Hulda Strickland Wilson, 99, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Oak Dale Cemetery, Spring Hope. Dr. Benjamin Quinn will conduct the service. Visitation with the family will be 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Spring Hope Funeral Home Sunday prior to the service at the cemetery. Mrs. Wilson was married to Howard Cecil Wilson in 1945. They made their home outside Spring Hope. She and Howard spent many happy hours fishing on the piers at Atlantic Beach. She graduated from Edward Best High School and earned a teaching degree from East Carolina Teachers College (now East Carolina University) in 1942. She taught high school at Gold Sand, Spring Hope, Middlesex, and Southern Nash. Most of those years she taught Home Economics, cooking, and clothing construction to countless girls and quite a few boys. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Cecil Wilson, parents; Arthur and Clara Benton Strickland; brothers: Theron and Carl Strickland, sisters: Mattie Lee Stallings, Estelle Pearce, Margaret Strickland and Helen Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Moss and grandchildren Allen Moss and Larry Moss. Mrs. Wilson leaves to cherish her memory two sons H. Cecil Wilson, Jr. (Beverly) and Edgar Wilson; grandchildren: Jamie Lynn Hare, Kevin Moss, Andrew Wilson, Robert (Bob) Wilson, Jason Wilson, Mack Wilson, and Sarah Stallman. She also leaves eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
