Gilbert Winstead Williams, age 81, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Nash General Hospital resulting from declining health following an automobile accident, which happened on January 10,2001.Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 17,2014 at Ephesus Baptist Church, Spring Hope ,where he was a faithful member for many years, at 3:00 pm by the Rev. Clark Rounds. Interment will follow at Oak Dale Cemetery in Spring Hope.Gilbert worked with the Raleigh Police Department for 30 years and retired as Major in 1990.He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Eula Winstead Williams.Gilbert leaves to cherish his memory, Barbara W. Williams, his wife of sixty years of the home. He is also survived by his sister, Laura Bland Green and husband J.C. of Spring Hope; brother, Guy Coleman Williams and wife Jenny of Loris, SC; a favorite aunt, Ellen W. Williams of Wilson and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at Spring Hope Funeral Home, Saturday, August 16, 2014, 6 until 8 PM and other times at the home.Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Nash County EMS, % George Winstead, 120 W.
